So why don't we just continue to depend on agriculture in the countryside, where it is less likely to suffer from natural disasters, and where we have access to land? For centuries, people have been going to farms to get food. And we still do, despite all the technological advances that have been made. But what if the way we grow our food was changed? What if we started growing it in a different manner, in a city? It's not just about being "green" or "environmentally-friendly". It's about finding a way to feed the world in a more efficient way. It's about making sure that we don't have to depend on one part of the world in order to feed ourselves. You can also grow food in abandoned lots, parks, playgrounds, empty lots, and other areas where you normally wouldn't grow food. Another way to grow food in an urban area is to start small, and then expand from there. You could start by growing a small garden in your backyard, and eventually expand to larger gardens.
